THE WAXING STUDIO
FAQS

Do you double dip?
We find it crucial to never double dip our applicators into our wax pots. Not only is it highly unsanitary, but it puts each client at risk. The Waxing Studio takes pride in our "no double dipping" technique and assures that our clients safety is our number one concern.
Why do people wax?
The reasons are truly personal. People find that beautifully smooth skin is easier to maintain and more comfortable than shaving every day, not to mention worrying about that unattractive razor stubble or ingrown hair bumps.
What areas of the body can be waxed?
The wax can be used on almost any part of the body as needed. Most frequently waxed areas for women are legs, underarms, bikini, brazilian, eyebrows, arms, stomach and face. For men: chest, legs, arms, underarms and back. The exceptions for waxing are beards.
Will the hair grow back thicker?
Absolutely not. It might seem so because you will be accustomed to a hairless zone and new hair will be intolerable. Usually, regrowth will be finer, thinner and slower. Eventually, hair growth may stop altogether.
Is the process painful?
This is one of the more prevalent questions, and the truth is that it really depends on the esthetician and the quality of the wax. An unskilled esthetician using a lower quality wax could lead to a painful experience, but our highly-skilled professionals use only state-of-the art natural wax.
Do you recycle your wax? Never. Never. Never.
A very good question that you should ask any waxing salon you may frequent or better yet check if there are two separate trashcans in the wax room; one for the wax and the other one for table paper, disposable spatulas, gloves, etc. We have set the highest standards for our clients and we do not recycle our wax.
How is waxing more effective than other hair removal methods?
Waxing is far more effective than typical hair removal methods including shaving, creams and laser procedures. The benefits over shaving are fairly obvious: no more propping up appendages in uncomfortable positions, unsightly marks and the results last for weeks! Creams only remove hair at the surface and not the root, leading to visibility after only a few days. Laser procedures are quite costly, and you can expect to spend anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars!
How long do the results last?
The typical result lasts anywhere from two to four weeks. Waxing on a regular basis will lengthen time between waxing services.
How to Prepare for Your Brazilian Bikini Wax?
Shorter hair makes it difficult for the wax to grab, so the hair needs to be 1/2 inch in length (about 10 to 14 days of growth). Please note this especially applies to first-time clients who have been shaving. The worst possible thing you could do to your bikini is to wax too soon after shaving. Stubble is awful to take up if it is too short, and this is why we ask for the appropriate amount of time for re-growth.
Are there any steps I need to take ahead of my appointment?
There are a few things you can do before your appointment to help lessen the discomfort. One is to avoid caffeine since it is a skin stimulant. Caffeine gets your nerves up and dancing and ready to feel everything. Some people also find taking Motrin or an anti-inflammatory a half hour before their appointment is quite useful. You should also avoid swimming or prolonged sun exposure the day before your appointment, as these activities can heighten skin sensitivity. Come to your appointment relaxed.
What else can I expect after the appointment?
After a few days, it is a good idea to exfoliate with a loofah mit on a daily basis (do not exfoliate until at least 24 hours after the appointment). Consider your clothing options as well and try to avoid very tight clothing to your wax appointment, or 24 hours after a bikini wax. You should also avoid excessive sun exposure the day after your appointment.
How does the process unfold?
Upon arriving, you will be guided into our private waxing studio. Depending on the region being waxed, you will be asked to place your body in the best position, enabling our esthetician to reach intimate areas. We want you to be as at ease and comfortable as possible, and if you do not wish to have certain areas waxed just let us know and we will avoid the area.
Who should avoid waxing?
Clients using Acutane, Retin-A or any antibiotics causing increased skin sensitivity. Clients who have just tanned in a bed or in the sun should also avoid waxing. Those with a low immune system should consult with a doctor before waxing.
